General Hunting Information in Virginia
Hunting on the IWLA - Alexandria Chapter requires an additional permission slip from the Chapter. The permission slip can be obtained by complete the hunting quiz below.
For those NOT Hunting you should be aware that there may be hunters out in the woods.
If you desire to take a hike on the trails during hunting season, please check with the Caretaker to see if any hunters are hunting. ALL HUNTERS are REQUIRED to park in the parking lot and check in at the kiosk in front of the caretaker's house, place a pin showing where you will be and raise the flag. make sure to lower the flag and sign out before leaving. Hunter Education: The DWR is offering a four-hour hands-on hunting workshop on July 25th at IWLA Stafford covering the safe use of all types of tree stands. The session will include instructions and tips for using ladder, climber, and hang-on stands, as well as tree saddles and full-body fall arrest systems. You are welcome to bring your own equipment or try ours.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection primarily transmitted by Ixodes ticks, also known as deer ticks or blacklegged ticks. Lyme disease affects people of all ages. The CDC notes that it is most common in children, older adults, and others such as firefighters and park rangers who work outside and have higher exposure to ticks.

Create a Tick-Safe Zoneat Home: Prune trees, clear leaves and brush, keep deer and other wild animals out of your yard.

Hunter Education Dates:
Virginia requires Hunter Education if you are 12-15 years old and want to hunt or are a first-time hunter.
