The AHG VA0128 and TL VA-4034 family campout this past weekend (4/2-3) was a great success. We had eight families participate - 11 adults and 19 youth for a total of 30 people. We camped adjacent to the clubhouse with a couple folks camping at a primitive site.
The kids spent a good portion of their time enjoying the fishing pond and climbing trees. Several boys and girls learned about charcoal cooking as they helped prepare a meat and lentil stew in the dutch oven and bake muffins in a charcoal "oven". They learned about using a charcoal chimney as well as arranging the cooking set up to protect the grass beneath from any heat or fire damage.
The USA Scouts camping alongside us this weekend were great neighbors and our kids enjoyed playing and fishing with their scouts.
Club president Mike Scherr stopped by to see how we were all doing. Thanks for the fun conversation!
Since it was Sunday, my son and I finished up the weekend with his first time shooting shotgun. Thanks to the shotgun committee for showing him the ropes. He did great!
Please enjoy the attached pictures.
