We were able to accomplish the following projects with the help of many of you who volunteered during the work parties:
• Cut down many dead trees
• Blew and raked leaves
For the remainder of the Spring season, we will continue to work on the following projects:
Wood splitting for wood to be used in the Turkey Shoot Building
• Removal of dead trees on trails and around the Archery range
• Chipping limbs
• Leaf cleanup and removal
• Fence line restoration
Work party sign up can now be accomplished on the web; check the website and current events. Getting your hours just got easier! It also allows the Caretaker an opportunity to plan tools and equipment better.
• Work Parties fulfill the new member 4 service hours requirement and are an opportunity to complete additional volunteer hours towards the 8 hours for a reduction in annual membership dues ($50). If you cannot complete 4 hours in one day, you can participate in multiple work parties (i.e., 1 hour a month for 4 months).
• Work party consists mostly of ground maintenance activities (i.e., grass trimming/cutting, tree cutting, property clean up, etc.). If you require special accommodations (i.e., ADA related), contact the Caretaker to schedule individually - please coordinate at least 2-3 days in advance so proper accommodations can be made.
LOST AND FOUND: Found items are placed on the caretaker carport. Then they go to the monthly meeting and after that monthly meeting they will donated to goodwill. If you lost something, contact the caretaker.
• The Hunter’s Kiosk will be installed during April. The SUN SET time will be displayed on the bottom of that board; very noticeable upon entry. It will also portray a notice if youth are on the property or not and will incorporate the current flag indicating Hunters are signed in and on the property.
As a reminder, we will gladly take your old scrap metal, brass, copper, etc. We make a monthly trip to Prince William County to turn in the scrap for cash. All the cash received directly benefits the chapter!
